CHEERS FROM HEAVEN
A few summers ago I found myself sitting with some young volunteers on the lake-shore across from the swimming area. What drew us to sit there at that moment were the cheers of over 200 people lined up on the dock and shore of the swimming area while sixteen young people were being baptized after making first-time decisions for Christ. After each person was baptized loud cheers rang across the lake. The volunteer sitting next to me commented “that’s so cool how they cheer for them”. I couldn’t help but think that those cheers must pale in comparison to the celebration and cheers in heaven over each of these souls who have passed from death to life and darkness to light.
The story of the prodigal son paints a great picture of how our heavenly Father reacts each time a lost child comes to Christ. Luke 15: 23-24 “Bring the fattened calf and kill it, and let us eat and celebrate. For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found.’ And they began to celebrate.”
The things that happen here at Awanita have eternal value in changing lives for Christ. You can play an important role in helping us to reach young people for Christ by partnering with us and donating toward specific projects and items needed to keep Awanita moving forward.
Awanita is a non-profit 501c3 charitable religious organization that isn’t supported by any denomination. We survive solely on camper fees and donations from people like you who share our desire to see lives changed by the gospel of Christ. All donations are tax deductible.
Here is a current list of items that we need, and projects that we are working on this upcoming year. There are needs in every cost range, and every donation helps. Thank you for considering partnering with Awanita in this most crucial kingdom work of reaching young people for Christ.
You can partner with Awanita by donating to one or more of the following items.
Deuce and a Half - We are looking at a 6-wheel drive all terrain military transport vehicle to take the place of one of our aging H1 Hummers. This new vehicle will move three times as many people up the mountain to see the cross and spectacular view while still providing the same thrilling ride as a Hummer. We estimate the cost of purchase and modifying the Deuce will be approximately $15000. We already have $9000 raised and have about six thousand to go before our anticipated April purchase date. Check out the picture at the bottom of the page.
Couches - We need four new couches for the summer staff / volunteer house. Click this LINK for more information.
